After extremely cold news from Montenegro, where on 25. January 2022, an all-time national temperature record (-33,4°C) should be broken /https://mkweather.com/a-historic-siberian-winter-in-balkan-montenegro-with-an-all-time-national-record-kosanica-334c//, we are bringing the next articles focused on the peak of winter in the eastern half of Europe and Turkey.
All-time temperature records were not measured only in Montenegro, but regionally in Bosnia and Herzegovina, too (up to -29,5°C – the next Mkweather article), but Serbia was even colder.
In Karajukica Bunari, Serbia, 1128 MASL, the lowest temperature of Winter 2021/2022 in Serbia was on 25. January 2022 measured, only -31,1°C.
All-time record for the village from Winter 2005/2006 has an unbelievable value of -39,6°C /https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karajuki%C4%87a_Bunari/.
Extremely cold was however in other Serbian cities, too.
Sjenica, 1038 MASL, reported only -24,8°C, Benatski Karlovac, only 90 MASL, -19,8°C (17°C lower temperature as long-term January average), Vrsac, 83 MASL, -18,4°C, Pozega Uzicka, 310 MASL, -17,8°C, Dimitrov Grad, 448 MASL, -17,3°C, Smederevska Palanka, 121 MASL, -16,5°C, Krusevac, 166 MASL, -15,7°C, Cuprija, 123 MASL, -15,6°C, or Veliko Gradiste, 123 MASL, -15,3°C.
Similar frosts should be measured in Romania, where up to -22,2°C records are available from big cities (in valleys probably around -30°C – one of the next Mkweather articles).
Below -20°C reported almost all Balkan, Ukraine, East-Central Europe, Greece and Turkey (here up to -39,7°C: https://mkweather.com/extreme-frosts-hit-kurdistan-397c-in-turkey-and-274c-in-iran-gaziantep-with-05-meters-of-snow-3000-vehicles-stuck-in-a-blizzard/) in the last days, especially on Monday and Tuesday, 24.-25. January 2022, in valleys.
Moreover, Greece and Turkey hit historic blizzards /the next Mkweather articles/, the worst in more than 50 years (Greece) or ever (Turkey).
Temperature in 850 hPa should drop in broder region with Montenegro at the night from 24. to 25. January 2022 to the interval -15/-20°C.
Extremely cold air masses are in the next period forecast to shift further to the east and southeast, with powerful winter conditions in Ukraine, Turkey, the Caucasian region, NE Africa, and the Middle East.
On 26. January 2022, the coldest air masses will shift above southeastern Serbia, Romania, Moldova, Ukraine, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Greece, and Turkey, on 27. January 2022 above Ukraine, European Russia, and Turkey, on 28. January 2022 above Caucasian region, Turkey and European Russia, and on 29. January 2022, the next cold blast will start from the Carpathian region, shifting eastward and southeastward.
Then, cold blasts will be continuing minimally until 3. February 2022 and should return after 7. February 2022 in the mentioned wider region.
