While lower situated regions in Poland, Slovakia or Czechia, around 1000 MASL, in the last days reported snowing and late-May snowfall is possible in the UK, too (Scotland), in Egilsstaðaflugvöllur, Iceland, on Thursday, 15. May 2025, an extremely high temperature of +26,6°C was measured, which is a new national Icelandic record of maximum temperature for May.
In mountainous station Gagnheiði in Iceland, at 950 MASL, +20,3°C was on 16. May 2025 measured and a previous monthly recordm +12,9°C was broken by 7,4°C! In Stykkishólmur, a monthly record, +20,3°C was measured (the hottest May day since 1885).
Meanwhile, in a Mediterranean was causing floods a Mediterranean low (and not only in Europe, but in Algeria and Tunisia, with fatalities, too), including floods in Valleta, Malta, Spain and Italy; and in continental Europe severe late-Spring frosts 0/-5°C were continuing, with damaging crops and harvest.

According to the long-term outlook, colder weather will stay in Europe almost until the end of May 2025, with the next cold peaks, but June and the first half of July 2025 should be gradually from the West hot, with tropical, in continental Europe temporarily supertropical days (above +30 / +35°C). In Spain, already in May, +40°C and in Turkey, +45°C should be measured.
