At the same time, a powerful heatwave in China shattered 16 July temperature records. Even more striking, 8 stations surpassed their all-time annual highs during this event, reflecting unprecedented heat for this time of year.
Some of the highest temperatures reported include 41.5°C in Changyi and Laizhou, 40.9°C in Zhucheng, 40.8°C in Gaomi and Miluo, 40.5°C in Pingdu, 39.5°C on Xilian Island, and 38.6°C in Xiangshui.
This extreme heatwave is causing significant strain on public health systems, agricultural productivity, and infrastructure. It also serves as a clear indication of the escalating impacts of climate change in the region.
Residents are advised to take precautions, stay hydrated, and monitor local weather updates as the heatwave continues.
