
In North America, severe storms are continuing in Central and Eastern US, with 28 fatalities caused by tornadoes and storms this week.
Only one violent tornado in London, Kentucky, killed at least 9 people.
Very bad situation with tornado outbreak was in Illinois, Missouri, Indiana, Kentucky and even in parts of Washington D.C. metropolitan area.
Chicago was moreover hit by rare duststorm, the first of this scale.
Maryland experienced with floods, too
Florida reports drought.
West is preparing to some rain.
Above Plains, after heatwaves, a severe coldwave was forecast.
Heatwaves were observed from Hodnuras and Mexico trough the US to Canada:
Two consecutive Tmins of >+29°C at Choluteca, Honduras appeared this week, otherwise hardly ever happened in Central America. Tmin of +29,4°C/85°F is just 0,2°C from its record hottest night.
Up to +47,0°C temperatures reached in the Northeast of Mexico. The hottest was in Ciudad Altamirano, in the West (Guerrero State), +46,8°C, which is temperature just 0.2C from its all-time high. More extreme heat is coming in next 5 days.
In Canada +37,0°C / 99°F was measured in Winnipeg (after a crazy minimum of +22,5°C at The Fork, which ties its May highest Tmin and it’s one of the hottest nights ever recorded in Canada in spring). On Saturday morning there might see falling snow. Before a week, +37,8°C was measured already in Emerson.
The 3rd day in a row > +35°C, with +37,0°C and May record was measured also at Carman. From record Tmins: +22,5°C Winnipeg/The Forks +22,1°C Kleefeld, +21,9°C Deerwood +21,1°C Emerson +20,9°C Winnipeg A, +20,8°C Morden, +20,3°C Pinawa and +20,2C Great Falls.
From the next tropical nights in Canada we will mention +21,7°C/71°F in Sprague destroys May record and just 0,3 from June record, +21,1°C in Red Lake, +20,7°C in Fort Frances.
After a Tmax of 96°F, International Falls had a minimum of 70°F! (rare in summer) which pulverized by 4°F its record of May highest minimum according to /https://x.com/extremetemps/. Tmins of 67°F to 73°F in Minnesota and North Dakota with dozens of records by 2°F to 5°F margins appeared. Some important records of May highest temperature include 96°F in International Falls MN 97°F in Harvey and Garrison ND were measured.
A historic 100°F in Northern Minnesota and in North Dakota were destroyed by 3°F margin like that of Baudette.
In the USA, extremely hot nights appeared in central parts: minimums up to 82°F at Lajitas TX Dozens of records of May fell, e.g. 79°F Bakersdale LA,78°F Pine Bluff AR,77°F Monticello and Stuttagart AR ,78°F Texarcana,77°F Tunica MS and many more.
82°F was measured at Galveston Texas, Tmins into the low/mid 70s in Arkansas, Tennesee, Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri. Records of May minimums in some areas specially Arkansas like: 76°F Mount Ida 75°F Springdale, were observed.
112F/+44,4°C was measured at Cotulla, Texas. Monthly record was destroyed in pieces 115F/+46°C in Mexico in the previous days.
A brutal heat wave and long lasting heatwave was bothiring Texas, with new monthly records: 111°F Carrizo Springs, 106°F Hondo, 108°F Llano and 109°F Cotulla.
According to long-term outlook, severe storms are still prepared for the Central / Eastern US, but from 9. to 30. June 2025, hot air should flood all of North America, with persistent and powerful heatwaves.
