In India, June is witnessing some of the hottest nights ever recorded, with minimum temperatures reaching:
- 30.6°C in Baroda
- 30.2°C in Supaul
- 29.8°C in Motihari
- 29.6°C in Dhubri
The India-Pakistan region is enduring a severe heatwave, with many weather stations reporting minimum temperatures above 30°C during the night. For example, Bulandshahr, India recorded a night minimum of 31.0°C.
Remarkably, even at high elevations in Pakistan, such as Parachinar at 1725 meters above sea level, the night temperature stayed warm at 24.0°C.
This extreme heatwave in India and Pakistan is characterized by:
- Minimum temperatures climbing up to 34°C
- Maximum temperatures reaching as high as 51°C
Notable June records of high minimum temperatures in India include:
- 31.0°C at Najibabad
- 30.0°C at Golaghat
Northern Pakistan is also facing a terrible heatwave, with cities like Islamabad (latitude 33.3°N, 525m elevation) experiencing minimum temperatures of 30°C and maximums up to 45°C, and similarly high temperatures in Lahore.
