
Asia is suffering a record Spring 2025, with anomalous heatwaves, in April 2025 even 10°C+ above monthly temperature records across large parts of Central Asia.
In May 2025, heatwaves are continuing, with brutal +45,6°C in Sarakhs, Turkmenistan, +44,5°C in Kyzyl Orda, Uzbekistan and historic +44°C in Kazakhstan in mid-May. Nearly all Central Asia destroyed its all-time Spring records and even June and July records!
In Kazakhstan, +43°C was measured at latitudes 45°N (!!!).
This is the most extreme climatic event in all-time history, it has never happened before – by lasting, and by intensity of Asian heatwaves, both.
In Iran, +47,4°C was measured in Zabol, +42,0°C in Nehbandan, 1200 MASL, +41,4°C in Ferdous and +40,6°C in Kashmar.
Khiva, Uzbekistan reported +43,0°C and Tamdy, Uzbekistan, +43,4°C.
Meanwhile in neighboring China, +44,8°C, in Kyrgyzstan +38,7°C in Talas, 1200 MASL (above June record) and in Ugloskoye in Siberia, supertropical +36,6°C, was measured.
Tmin of +29,1°C appeared in Khantau, Kazakhstan at 552 MASL – not only May national record, but too its June and July record.
In Bishkek, Tmin of +22,2°C, the Kyrgyz May hottest night was measured. In Uzbekistan, record Tmins of +26,1°C in Buhara and +25,8°C in Nurata, were observed. In Turkmenistan Tmin of +26,0°C in Danganata appeared and tropical nights were observed in Siberia, too. From the next hot nights, Tmin of +30,4°C was measured in Zarafshan, Uzbekistan, +27,5°C at Uchkuduk, Uzbekistan, Tmins of +30,2°C in Dzangeldy, +25,4°C in Chimbaj, + 26,0°C in Tedzhen Turkmenistan and +25,6°C in Aralskoe More, Kazakhstan, were observed. Ridiculous Tmin of +27,8°C in Beyneau, Kazakhstan, appeared, with records locally broken by 10°C!
Tmins of +38°C in Khassab, Oman and +35,5°C Dhudna, UAE appeared. Tropical nights were measured above levels >2000 MASL in Iran! From May records, +27,5°C Kashmar 1110 MASL, +25,4°C Torbat 1450 MASL.
In Pakistan Tmins of +29,5°C in Chhor appeared and in the next period Tmaxes above +50°C and Tmins above +40°C (!) are expected.
From May 16 to May 21, central China will be hit by an extreme heat wave, with the highest temperature in many provinces exceeding +40°C, and Henan may reach +44°C! If this happens, hundreds of weather stations will break the May record! On May 19, the highest temperature in central China may reach +45°C! If this happens, it will break the record for the highest temperature in China in May!
Meanwhile, massive hailstorm in Beijing shatters windshields, causes traffic and flight chaos.
In India, Tmins > +30°C in the West, East, North and South and hot Sri Lanka are reported. Thanjvur with a May record Tmin of +31,0°C.
Historic Tmin of +28,1°C was observed this week in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, too.
Meanwhile in Japan, a record of May highest Tmin was broken at Amagi (far south) with +30,6°C.
In Indonesia, +35,8°C measured in Kaimana (West Papua), May hottest temperature on record and Tmin and Tmax +25,9 / +36,4°C in Tanah Merah (both records for May).
According to forecasts, historic heatwaves across the continent will be continuing, and in monsoon areas, severe floods and high heat index are predicted.
