May 2025 is in a wider La Plata region, mainly northern Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, southern Bolivia and southernmost Brazil, very warm so far.

More southward, near Buenos Aires, severe floods after storms with 400 mm rainfall appeared and 4100 people were evacuated between 16.-18. May 2025.
A gradient for hot inflow from the continent is creating between low pressure above Patagonia and high pressure eastward from the La Plata coast.
Strong positive precipitation anomalies are reported mainly from Amazon and south-Central Chile, but overall, stormy northern third of the continent is predicted in the following months thanks to La Nina.
