Extreme heat with temperatures up to or close to +30°C in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Czechia, Poland, Slovakia and above +30°C in Hungary, Italy, and Balkan are expected in the next days, in the first May 2025 pentad, however, a strong coldwave is in outlook.
Gradually, the Arctic air will flood Europe on the north side of the Mediterranean lows, with a possible late snowfall in the Alpine and Carpathian region below 1000 MASL, severe frosts up to -15°C hit regionally lowlands in Scandinavia, in continental European valleys should be around -5°C (!), with a possibility of danger for bloomed trees.

Historic heatwaves – a total insanity – an event rewritting a world climate history – hit in April 2025 parts of Asia. According to weather watchers around the world, this was the most extreme event the world has ever seen without any competition. In 3 centuries of climatic history, nothing can be compared to what it’s happening in Asia now (!!!).
Already from 1. to 18. April, former ZSSR republics every day reported tropical +30/+38°C wit July-like temperatures. Later, at the end of April 2025, unbelievable +43,3°C was in Turkmenistan, +40,0°C in Uzbekistan, +39,0°C in Kazakhstan, +37,0°C in Tajikistan, and +36,1°C in Kyrgyzstan, measured. These values are regionally 10°C above all-time monthly April records (!!!).
For the first time in history (data since 1880), Kyrgyzstan has a tropical night in April – minimum temperature of +20,3°C was observed in the capital Bishkek. In Uzbekistan, madly +28,9°C at the night (Tmin) was measured in Tamdy, even over May records. On 29.4., incredible minimums in Northern Kazakh highlands never happened in April or even in May before! Tmin +23,4°C Shokpar, 770m is a new Kazakh national record. +25,8°C was in Burdalyk on 29.4. measured.
Northern China reached +42°C and Mongolia and Siberia up to +32°C.
April all-time records before were broken e.g. in Pakistan (+49,0°C – 145 years of climatology), Kuwait (+48,9°C), Saudi Arabia (+47,6°C), Iran / Iraq (+47,0°C /Basra in Iraq +46,1°C/), UAE (+46,6°C), or Israel (+44,9°C). In Abu Dhabi, UAE, +44,5°C, was measured, as well as in Oman, Dubai reported +44,6°C.
Makkah in Saudi Arabia reported the 2nd hottest night in history with Tmin +31,0°C. The hottest night in history reported Iraq, with +31,7°C in Haditah, too, on 24.4..
In China, despite being the first day of the month, 6 stations had their hottest May in history – in Xinjiang province, +42,0°C was measured.
In the middle of April 2025, +46,0°C was measured in Jaisalmer, India – only 0,1°C below its all-time April records, at the end of the month, with +46,2°C, the record was broken.
