
Rare summer snowfall surprised around 10.-11. June 2021 Quebec and Newfoundland, Canada.
In some parts, only before a few days, temperatures reached +30°C, but at the end of workweek, temperatures dropped below zero and snow cover reached several centimeters.
In St Johns, it was 27,3°C on Tuesday 8. June 2021 (near record level for early June according to watchers) and on Friday, 11. June was snowing (1 cm on the ground).
Something like this is unseen in the region since 1976!
Many frosts and snowing advisories were valid in SE Canada on Friday, 11. June in New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Labrador and Nova Scotia.
In Parc National Des Pingualuit, Quebec, 503 MASL, 10 from 12 June 2021 days were ice days, with maximum temperature below 0°C and absolute temperature minimum -8,4°C on 10. June.
In Saglek, Newfoundland, 501 MASL, maximum temperature on 8. June 2021 reached only -0,1°C and on 12. June, minimum temperature dropped to -3,4°C.
In Moosonee, Ontario, 9 MASL, temperature on 7. June 2021 moving from -1,6°C to +28,6°C during a day, on 12. June temperature dropped to -2,9°C.
In Toronto, on 7. June, maximum temperature +33,1°C was measured, while on 12. June only +25,1°C, in Ottawa on 8. June +33,4°C and on 11. June +23,6°C. In Montreal it has cooled down from +32,6°C (8. June) to +23,6°C (11. June).
In Halifax, cooldown was more stronger that in Great Lakes region. On 8.-9. June, +32,5°C was in the city measured, while 11.-12. June, minimum temperature dropped to +4,3°C.
During the next week, parts of central and eastern Canada, such as central and eastern USA, hit the next powerful coldwaves, while western USA and gradually western coast in Canada will be very hot.
Some surprises in a form of summer snowing mainly in Hudson Bay region (Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec) are still possible.
