A powerful coldwave hit in the last days of eastern Canada and the Great Lakes region, the USA.
The coldest was in Candian islands in the Arctic – Cape Dyer in Nunavut reported a minimum temperature of only -5,4°C.
Frosts were however reported from more southern regions, too, e.g. in parts of Manitoba, it cooled down from +35°C+ below 0°C.
Surprisingly low dropped minimum temperature on Thursday, 8. July in Brimson, Minnesota, 450 MASL, where frost -1,0°C / 30°F was measured.
From northern Quebec and Newfoundland, snow accumulations were reported.
In Cardston, Alberta, high hail accumulations were created after storms on the cold front, which brought cooldown.
Meanwhile, in the western USA, the next heatwave is building, with the next records in Salt Lake City or Las Vegas and expected 128°F in Death Valley /the next Mkweather article/.
In New York, ex-hurricane Elsa brought severe floods /the net Mkweather article/ and system is continuing on its way above easternmost Canada towards southern Greenland.
