Before anomalous Antarctic blast in African countries, we have warned a few days ago /https://mkweather.com/south-africa-expect-10-day-lasting-coldwave-cape-town-32c-22c-above-all-time-cold-record-and-floods/; https://mkweather.com/port-elizabeth-south-africa-18c-all-time-record-is-05c-in-western-provinces-already-level-4-snow-warning-july-2021// and coldwave will be very probably an absolute peak of Winter 2021.
Extremely cold isn´t only in South Africa, where in the next days around -15°C is possible, but too in desert countries northward from South Africa – Namibia or Botswana, so far.
In Sandveld, Namibia, -10,0°C was measured on Thursday, 15. July 2021, which is only 0,5°C above the all-time national record for the country!
In Tsabong, Botswana, -7,7°C was measured, which is only 2,9°C above the all-time national record.
Meanwhile, in regions of South Africa, coldwave has already brought the lowest temperature in more than 20 years /Tweet below/.
Only in the last articles, we informed about extreme low temperatures in Cape Town (+3,2°C) and Port Elizabeth (+1,8°C), which were in the last period very close to all-time temperature records.
Parts of western South Africa already have reported snowing and snow cover, but gradually, coldwave will spread into eastern parts of South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique and even, partially to Angola, Zambia, or later Madagascar.
The next peak of serious coldwave is forecasted to hit the region between Wednesday and Sunday, 21.-25. July 2021, mainly on Thursday, 22. July 2021, with regional potential for monthly or all-time temperature records.
