Extremely hot West vs. Very cold East – US is waiting big changes of circulation, storms will be weakening

While forecasts and warnings for Friday are expecting hot weather almost over whole territory of US, heatwaves from the weekend will stay strictly in the west half of US. From the Saturday and Sunday, hot weather with large-area severe storms in eastern-half of US will ending and US and Canada will be preparing for the big reconstruction of circulation.

Stormy and hot weather will be replaced by cold Arctic air on Sunday and all next week in eastern half of US

Eastern half of US is still bothered by severe storms in very warm air masses . During Friday, T-storms and heat warnings are still valid for Friday, but only T-storm warnings for Saturday in eastern half. The worst T-storms, in Great Lakes area (West) and Southeast.

A big coldwave in eastern half of US will start on Sunday and will persist over area during all next week. Colder air will bring weaker T-storms and heat relief. Temperatures will be over parts of region more autumn than summer.

Southwest and West will stay excessively hot during next 10 days

During current week, a few interesting temperature records were overcomed in Southwest. Phoenix on Thursday has alived 37th day with maximum temperature above 110°F (record 33 days in 2011) and it is very possible, that a count of extremely hot days in the city reach 40-45 during this summer. On Wednesday, recorded hot was in El Paso, Texas, 107°F (42°C, previous record 102°F), in Roswell, New Mexico, 105°F (41°C, previous record 104°F) or Amarillo, Texas, 104°F (40°C, previous record 103°F). Late summer is in New Mexico and California extremely hot, with predicted temperatures up to 116°C in region on its border, and 115°C in Phoenix.
