While in June 2021 were persisting in Europe long heatwaves (10.-30. June), parts of the Middle East experienced stormy weather, with large hails, flash floods, or duststorms.
Hailstorms and flash floods hit parts of Saudi Arabia and Yemen at the beginning of the 3rd June 2021 decade.
A few days before, Kuwait was hit by an extensive duststorm, when cars were stuck on the highways.
Only a few days after the dust storm in Kuwait, temperatures up to +53,2°C were measured in the country (Nuwasib, 23.6. 2021).
The next, even stronger round of heat is coming at the start of July 2021, after air from European heatwaves has shifted eastward – Jahra on 2. July already reported +53,5°C. +51,5°C was in Omidieh, Iran on the same day, measured.
In Kuwait’s case, it is only 0,4°C below the all-time national record of 21. July 2016, +53,9°C!
Under the sun, temperatures reached around +70°C!
It appears, that Summer 2021 will be extremely hot, yet – if the Middle East hits later even stronger heatwaves, all-time national records should be broken.
