
Last week, cold air from the northert Russia found a way to the south and in populated Caucasian village in Dagestan, Kurush, untraditionally lot of summer snowfall has fallen.
Kurus is located in the Dokuzpalinski district in the southern part of the Republic of Dagestan. It is located in a mountainous area at an altitude of 2480 – 2,560 meters.
It is a small village with a population of less than 800 people. According to reports, Kurush is considered to be the southernmost village in Russia, so many Russians are unbelievable about the news of the snowfall in August.
The snow was very heavy that day. The snow not only covered the slopes, but also the houses of local residents.
The local government stated that it often snows in the mountains in autumn, but this year, snowfall came very early. The report pointed out that in September last year, there was heavy snow in Raqqa district in the southwest of the Republic of Dagestan.
