
Extremely hot weather was peaking on Monday, 12. July 2021 in the most continental (due to its location towards the Atlantic) parts of Iberia, Murcia region, where the highest temperature in SW Europe in Summer 2021 was measured.
While in Morocco, very probably all-time temperature record was broken (the next Mkweather article), in Murcia, Spain, the maximum temperature reached +45,0°C, which is only 1,1°C below all-time record for the station, +46,1°C.
According to ECMWF’s 6-week forecast, for the next extreme heatwave Spain and Portugal have to wait more than 25 days, and only around 8.-10. During previous days, up to +44,5°C was in southern Spain measured /https://mkweather.com/an-extreme-heatwave-hit-iberia-and-nw-africa-morocco-473c-spain-445c-and-portugal-415c-all-time-records-were-regionally-broken//, which were regionally one of the hottest days ever.
The temperature in 850 hPa reached above Spain in last days values up to +33°C.
The all-time official national record for Spain has a value of +47,3°C from Montoro, Cordoba, 13. July 2017.
