
South Korea is suffering devastating damage from its longest monsoon season on record, which lasted 67 days starting June 24. Some 37 people died, with five others still missing.
After typhoon Bavi, which hit South Korea with wind gusts up to 162 km/h and estimated wind gusts over the sea was even higher, more than 200 km/h, Korea and Japan is waiting unpleasant surprise already on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Supertyphoon Maysak with expected sustained winds 115 knots (213 km/h) and wind gusts up to 140 knots (260 km/h) over the sea on Monday strengthens to Category 5 quickly during next hours and then, with only little weaker winds hits South Korea and southwestern Japan on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Category 5 typhoon is reached above 105 knots (194 km/h) sustained winds according to RSMC Tokio´s Tropical Cyclone Intensity Scale.
While Bavi hit western parts of South Korea, now will be bothered eastern parts, southwestern Japan and NE North Korea. Then system will continue on its way to the NE China and SE Russia, or northern Japan.
