The National Weather Service confirmed Friday that an EF-1 tornado occurred in Edgewater on Thursday, as severe storms moved through Maryland.
According to the National Weather Service, the tornado was accompained with winds of up to 90 mph (145 km/h) and had a maximum path width of 100 yards and path length of 6.1 miles from 5:57 to 6:01 PM.
The tornado damaged dozens of homes, power lines and vehicles were downed, trees were fallen.
The tornado began as a supercell thunderstorm raced across central Maryland on Thursday evening.
