Before a few days, a new record of the latest first winter snowfall in Chicago was announced and broken on 21. December 2021.
Similarities are again with the legendary year 2012 when NAO- was bringing severe winter in Europe, but anomalously warm weather in central, eastern USA and eastern Canada.
Only 5 years, when the latest snowfall appeared after 10. December was observed: 2012, 1965, 2001, 1946, and 2003.
Until 25. December it´s already 286 days without the measurable snow in Chicago, while during a record-long period from the year 2012 it was 290 days – this record should be in the next days broken, too.
Meanwhile, in southern Illinois, 71°F / +21,6°C was at Christmas 2021 measured and Kansas, Oklahoma or Texas bother wildfires and temperatures up of to 80°F / +26,7°C in Kansas, 86°F / +30,0°C in Oklahoma and 91°F / +32,8°C in Texas /one of the next Mkweather article with the next state Christmas records/.
Parts of Northwest, however, are seeing the first white Christmas since 2008, while California and Arizona reports one of the wettest Christmas times in 40-80 years (the next Mkweather articles).
