With the mentioned 1-minute sustained winds at landfall it was the highest of any landfalling tropical cyclone worldwide ever and tied with the peak wind speeds of Typhoon Haiyan (November 2013) and Typhoon Meranti (September 2016) as the highest reliably estimated in the Eastern Hemisphere.

After Goni, supertyphoon Atsani threats Philippines, Vietnam, China and Taiwan in November 2020, current outputs of forecasting tools below shows, that track of Atsani will be more northward than Goni, which hits southern and south-central parts of Vietnam.
