At the weekend we were informed about Hurricane Nora, which hit western Mexico and its remnants are currently shifting above Southwestern states, the USA /https://mkweather.com/hurricane-nora-category-2-hits-mexico-and-southwest-the-usa-mexicali-with-a-new-mexican-national-august-record-506c//
Nora made landfall on Jalisco, then continued along the coasts of Nayarit and Sinaloa as a weakening storm and rapidly dissipated around Monday, 30. August 2021 as it moved further inland. It brought severe damages to Mexico, killing 1 person and causing 7 people missing due to a landslide in Cabo Corrientes.
Severe damages caused Hurricane Nora to Mexico Pacific coast banana plantation. It is estimated that around 30% of farms in Michoacàn, 30-40% in Colima have suffered severe damages or have been completely destroyed.
The most severe storms from the remnants of the system are forecasted for Arizona, mainly southern parts of the state, and western New Mexico.
Damaging floods are possible in parts of Utah and Colorado – mainly southern parts and storm activity will appear above southern Nevada and southwestern California, too.
A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for much of Arizona as remnants from Hurricane Nora are expected to bring heavy rainfall to the state on Wednesday and Thursday, 1.-2. September 2021.
