Extremely hot weather at the weekend has shifted from Italy, Balkan, and East-Central Europe above Finland, the Baltic region, and Eastern Europe, with regional possible all-time temperature records.
While on Thursday and Friday, 8.-9. July was extremely hot e.g. in Hungary, Slovakia, Austria, Bosnia, and Herzegovina or Croatia /https://mkweather.com/record-402c-in-adony-hungary-july-2021/; https://mkweather.com/390c-in-slovakia-only-13c-below-the-all-time-national-record-july-2021/; https://mkweather.com/the-hottest-day-in-austria-in-2-years-bad-deutsch-altenburg-375c/; https://mkweather.com/sarajevo-bosnia-and-herzegovina-384c-all-time-july-record-in-mostar-414c-banja-luka-402c-and-zenica-400c/; https://mkweather.com/split-croatia-372c-only-14c-below-all-time-record-northern-croatia-with-9-cm-hails-and-ef0-tornado-july-2021//, at the weekend was anomalously hot in Finland, up to +33°C /https://mkweather.com/abnormal-heatwaves-for-scandinavia-8-days-with-supertropical-potential-35-36c-in-outlook-many-all-time-records-will-be-broken//, but too in Belarus (+33,0°C on Saturday (Zlobin) and +33,8°C on Sunday, 10.-11. July 2021 (Vitebsk)) and Ukraine (+34,0°C and +34,5°C in Izium) and Baltic countries.
While Latvia and Lithuania were relatively colder, Latvia on Saturday up to +32,3°C in Dobele and on Sunday up to +31,1°C in Daugavpils and Lithuania on Saturday up to +32,0°C in Panevezys and on Sunday up to +30,8°C in Dukstas, Estonia was anomalously hot, with a possible new national temperature record!
While stations within International Exchange Site reported on Saturday, 10. July 2021 only up to +33,9°C (Kunda), information on Estonian Meteorological Service prepared for weather watchers a surprise – within available data, anomalous +36,0°C was measured in Korela, what is the higher temperature, such as all-time national record for the country from Voru, 11. August 1992, +35,6°C! On Sunday, the same city (Korela) reported +32,5°C.
Moreover, all of Scandinavia and the Baltic region expect until the end of July 2021, maybe August 2021 extreme heatwaves, with 8 days with the potential to reach temperatures +35°C and more /https://mkweather.com/abnormal-heatwaves-for-scandinavia-8-days-with-supertropical-potential-35-36c-in-outlook-many-all-time-records-will-be-broken//, in the Baltic region should be even little hotter.
Extreme heatwaves are a result of Saharan persisting advection of extremely warm air with a combination of extremely hot Central Asia – Kazakhstan in the last days reported +46,6°C (Tweet below) or Turkmenistan +48,2°C (https://mkweather.com/not-only-sahara-central-asia-extremely-hot-turkmenistan-482c-iran-513c-continental-china-50c-soon/) and the situation really reminds the year 2010.
If the temperature record from Korela won´t be recognized, the next hot weeks give several chances to break all-time national records not only in Estonia but in all northern Europe.
