ESRL composites for the USA (or North America) for the first 4 pentads of December 2021 (heatwaves and tornado outbreaks)

Low geopotential with cold temperature anomalies have persisted in the last period mainly above NW parts of the continent and later hit the western half of the USA, too.

Meanwhile, above Central USA, unseasonable winter heatwaves brought summer temperatures and deadly tornado outbreaks /mainly Kentucky event: https://mkweather.com/breaking-ef4-tornado-in-kentucky-killed-50-people-it-was-historic-winter-supercell//.

Such we should notice in outputs below, the USA, especially South-Central parts have experienced excessively warm winter weather, with temperatures in Texas up of to 92°F / +34°C or southern Midwest up to 83°F / +29°C. Moreover, the next, “Christmas heatwave” is in the region forecast (link above).

Mainly in the second December decade was by anomalous warm spells hit Eastern Canada, too.

While the first decade of December 2021 brought dry weather in Northwest, the USA, the third decade appeared a strong atmospheric river above the region, with anomalous rainfall and snowfall. A deep snow cover was in some regions created, with a result of the highest chances for White Christmas 2021 within the USA.
