
Extreme winter has already arrived in Turkey and Iran, with extreme frosts and severe blizzards.
Already in the last article, we were informed about extreme frosts in the northern half of the Middle East /https://mkweather.com/extreme-frosts-hit-the-middle-east-damascus-syria-80c-turaif-saudi-arabia-60c-kirkuk-iraq-47c-nekhel-egypt-45c//, with temperatures -8,0°C in Damascus, Syria, -6,0°C in Turaif, Saudi Arabia, -4,7°C in Kirkuk, Iraq or -4,5°C in Nekhel, Egypt.
In mountains northward, in Kurdistan, however, people these days are suffering life-threatening winter conditions.
Except for heavy blizzards with meters of snowfall, on 18. January the temperature dropped to -39,7°C in the village of Bezirhane, Caldiran district, Van Province, in Turkey (above 2000 MASL).
The main district town Caldiran reported -35,7°C (Tweet below).
Meanwhile, in Iran, -27,4°C in Saqqez, Kurdistan, 1500 MASL, was measured.
From Gaziantep, an extreme blizzard with up to 0,5 meters of snowfall was measured and around 3000 vehicles were during the snowstorm struck in accumulations of snow and severe winds.
Snowfall was reported even from Antakya or Adana, southern Turkey and most of Syria, Lebanon, northern Iraq, or hills in Israel, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia.
According to the last outpost of forecast models, strong winter conditions are predicted to stay in Turkey and the Middle East until the end of Winter 2021/2022, while Europe will be affected by the NAO+ phase earlier, with possible early-spring conditions /https://mkweather.com/early-spring-conditions-nao-in-europe-in-february-and-march-2022-is-still-confirming-mainly-for-western-northern-and-central-parts-se-sector-will-stay-cold//.
In eastern parts of the Middle East and northern India, winter thanks to remnants to Western Disturbances should continue in March 2022, yet.
