Germany -27,9°C, Denmark -19,1°C

On Sunday, 14. February 2021, the lowest temperature of the Winter 2020/2021 in lower situated regions wa measured not only in Czechia /, but too in Germany.

In Denmark was only 1,6°C warmer than on Friday, 12. February 2021, when was measured the coldest temperature since 2012 /

In Benelux, the lowest temperature was measured during workweek, in Netherlands only -16,2°C (too the coldest since 2012) / However, extremely cold weather persisted in Benelux all week and in Netherlands, many people went out to the frozen canals.

On Sunday, 14.2. the lowest temperature in Germany was measured in Marienberg-Kühnhaide in Sachsen, cca 700 MASL, only -27,9°C /, however, in the mountains (Funtensee), -40°C was in the morning expected, but data are still not known.

In Denmark, -19,1°C was measured again in Horsens (where -20,7°C was measured on Friday).

According to our “relatie humidity as a main predictor” forecast, the last night with extreme temperature (Monday´s morning) is expected in the region /

Important factors for declining of temperatures are mainly extremely low relative humidity and high snow cover/ and important circulation factors are mainly peaking La nina / and extreme strong negative phase of Arctic Oscillation /

Energy prices have increased during last days, extreme winter is associated with many traffic accidents, health problems /e.g. and many dead animals, too.
