While mainly mountainous parts of Western USA are experiencing a snowy fairytale, with record amounts of snowfall (the next Mkweather article), winter heatwave in central and eastern parts of the country is bringing extreme storm round, with the next tornado outbreak and record wind gusts.
Maximum temperatures during the heatwave are reaching average May temperatures – in Texas, 92°F / +33,3°C was on 15. December measured, Oklahoma reported 83°F / +28,3°C, Kansas 80°F / +26,7°C, Arkansas and Missouri 79°F / +26,1°C, Iowa 78°F / +25,6°C, Illinois 75°F / +23,9°C or Wisconsin 72°F / +22,2°C – our forecasts therefore were fulfilled /https://mkweather.com/winter-tropical-heatwave-hits-the-usa-unseasonably-hot-from-the-south-to-the-north//, although, the next “hot” winter days are before eastern USA, yet.
Summer, in Texas even tropical temperatures have caused, that the next storm system, after a deadly tornado in Kentucky /https://mkweather.com/breaking-ef4-tornado-in-kentucky-killed-50-people-it-was-historic-winter-supercell/; https://mkweather.com/the-next-tornado-outbreak-in-the-usa-after-winter-heatwave-between-thursday-saturday-16-18-december-2021// appeared above Midwest, with the next tornado outbreak and the strongest T-storm wind gust round since 2004!
Together, 19 tornadoes were on 15. December reported, 17 hail reports and 431 severe wind reports were observed, including 55 reports with hurricane-force thunderstorm wind gusts.
This number of hurricane-force wind gusts during a T-storm event is the highest number of hurricane-force (75+ mph) thunderstorm wind gusts in a day (55, and counting) since 2004!
A new round of tornadoes, fortunately, hasn´t been so deadly, so far, but until Saturday, storms will be shifting eastward and southward, with the next possible severe storms and tornadoes – again mainly in Kentucky and neighboring states (link above).
