In the last article for the USA (and Canada, Mexico) we will look at a long-term, 6-week outlook for the region from ECMWF.
Latest outputs expect, that Winter 2021/2022 will have in some regions serious delays, while others should experience some cold blasts from the north.
Very warm weather is until 25. January 2022 forecasted in Southern and Eastern USA – mainly in regions Texas, Midwest, Florida, Mid-Atlantic, and Northeast, in the first weeks Northern Plains and Great Lakes region, too.
Until 25. January 2022, cold Arctic air masses from Canada should be more and more aggressive in Western and Northern USA, mainly in regions Northwest, North, the Rocky Mountains, and Southwest.
The worst situation should be in the North and Northwest, such as the Rocky Mountains, where episodic blizzards and severe frosts will be gradually possible.
The second and third maps (in column left) mean temperature anomalies for Christmas 2021 and New Year 2022 period and it will be very similar such as the rest of the outlook, according to ECMWF.

Mexico will stay permanently very hot, colder periods should appear mainly in northwestern parts.
