Europe hit severe snowstorm, 10-30, rarely up to 50 cm of snow is reported from eastern France, Central Europe, Baltic region and Balkan!

The first blizzard in European mid-latitudes of Winter 2021/2022 is here and parts of eastern France, the southern half of Germany, Czechia, Poland, Slovakia, Switzerland, Austria, northernmost Italy, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, southeastern Serbia, Montenegro, Albania, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Belarus, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia already reports high amounts of snow cover and the next heavy snowfall is forecasted until the end of a current week!
Scandinavia is totally desperate – temperatures fell here early this week to the lowest values in the last 40-50 years /https://mkweather.com/brutally-cold-weather-in-scandinavia-legendary-frosts-in-sweden-375c-norway-369c-and-finland-340c-and-below-40c-is-forecasted-the-coldest-seasonal-temperatures-in-50//.
Snowfall firstly hit at the weekend parts of British Islands /https://mkweather.com/a-snowstorm-trapped-60-people-in-uk-pub-they-had-fun-and-sang-for-three-days// and frontal systems have shifted early this week above the continent.
Mentioned European countries report regionally 10-30 cm, rarely up to 50 cm of snow in lowlands, basins, and mountainous valleys below 1000 MASL.
Currently, a warm front and after it subsequent cold front are moving above continental Europe (from France to Ukraine) eastward, with really heavy snowfall mainly along the warm front line in the wider Alpine and Carpathian region.
Heavy snowfall with local snow cover up to 50 cm is forecasted in Baltic countries and parts of western and southern Balkan this week.
Regions in eastern France, Central Europe, Baltic countries and Balkan are fighting with a snow calamity, and reality in the next 2 weeks should be even worse – in valleys and basins 500 – 1000 MASL should fall regionally up to 1 meter of snow until the end of the following week.
Warmer weather is forecasted to come only between 10.-15. December 2021 and it should persist until the period before Christmas 2021. Then, the return of an extremely cold winter during Christmas or New Year 2021-2022 is possible.
If you live in hit regions, we recommend you to watch current weather news, forecasts, warnings and advisories and to be careful on roads and highways.
After a snowfall, extreme frosts, rarely up to -30°C in the coldest valleys and in continental Europe and Balkan mainly around the weekend and in the following week, possible.

It’s possible the UK and W Europe could see a significant winter blast from east in second week of December, I expect it to be cold. EPS definitely thinks so, as yet coldest air doesn’t migrate west enough, but not always imperative for significant ❄️ with cold continental flow… pic.twitter.com/b5kZGx1QpK

Wow, I track this low pressure system for few days! It looks like really slow moving cyclone with heavy snowstorm! Snow depth forecast for both ECMWF and GFS is 35-50 cm. Heavy snowstorm ahead? Am I right? 🤔 pic.twitter.com/IQMSYXqISr

The combination of northern cold and incoming moisture means snow in the forecast, in large enough quantities to accumulate on and around the Alps with significant falls in Switzerland, Austria, Croatia and Hungary in the offing. pic.twitter.com/r9zizOFQV5

#trlt A4: not *unusual* (insomuch as I rarely see snow), but the setting of this pic makes it look pretty unusually stunning I think, with the blue sky and a frozen river. It's … Gdansk, Poland, at about -15°C. pic.twitter.com/IM2JQQXYEa
