Currently, a warm front and after it subsequent cold front are moving above continental Europe (from France to Ukraine) eastward, with really heavy snowfall mainly along the warm front line in the wider Alpine and Carpathian region.
Heavy snowfall with local snow cover up to 50 cm is forecasted in Baltic countries and parts of western and southern Balkan this week.
Regions in eastern France, Central Europe, Baltic countries and Balkan are fighting with a snow calamity, and reality in the next 2 weeks should be even worse – in valleys and basins 500 – 1000 MASL should fall regionally up to 1 meter of snow until the end of the following week.
Warmer weather is forecasted to come only between 10.-15. December 2021 and it should persist until the period before Christmas 2021. Then, the return of an extremely cold winter during Christmas or New Year 2021-2022 is possible.
