Only in the first half of August 2021, record coldwave with snowing and frosts hit Brazil, and La Plata states /https://mkweather.com/snow-in-brazil-hit-larger-areas-than-usual-sao-paulo-the-2nd-coldest-temperature-in-20-years-43c// and Paraguay and Bolivia suffered all-time cold records only ca 2 months ago /https://mkweather.com/paraguay-and-bolivia-with-all-time-cold-records-74c-the-first-frosts-in-history-ever-and-a-3-day-period-with-snowing-in-southern-brazil//.
Coldwaves and extreme drought associated with their alternating with short and intense heatwaves caused in August 2021 big damage on the harvest of coffee or oranges /https://mkweather.com/parana-river-with-the-lowest-levels-in-80-years-after-frosts-in-brazil-prices-of-coffee-on-a-6-year-high// and after frosts and snowing, surprisingly hot winter weather, with new August records, has arrived.
In moderate and subtropical parts of South America, temperatures dramatically rose above +40°C in the last few days and parts of Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay are experiencing the hottest August or winter times ever.
In Villaemi, Paraguay, +40,9°C was measured, which is only 0,1°C below all-time record for Paraguay for the month of August.
Cuiabá, Brazil, reported +40,4°C – the first +40°C and more of the season. The same region was hit by severe frosts and ground frosts only a short time ago.
In Las Lomitas, Argentina, the temperature increased to +39,2°C, and large parts of northern provinces of the country reported the hottest August, or even winter temperatures ever (e.g. in Corrientes and at Paso de Los Libres).
Artigas in Uruguay reported polite winter +34,0°C – only before a short time, country of lowlands reported frosts.
Winter in South America is sometimes very wild and the most populated regions in moderate climate zone should report everything from snow and frosts to +40°C heatwaves and severe drought.
The next powerful coldwave will be shifting from Patagonia to the northern mentioned regions already during the 3rd August 2021 decade and after record heatwave, the next severe frosts or snowing should again surprise.
