The worst situation is forecast around Thursday, 13. January 2022, when temperature anomalies almost in all Argentina and Chile and later Uruguay, Paraguay, southern Bolivia, and southern Brazil will report temperature anomalies +10/+15°C, regionally in La Plata region above +20°C from long-term averages.
These conditions should mean temperatures above +40°C for Buenos Aires or around +48°C in northern Argentina.

Heatwave to hit Argentina, further stressing corn, soybean crops according to Reuters.
Argentina is the second-largest corn exporter in the world (after the USA) and the main global supplier of soybean oil and flour.
Agronomists are due to extreme drought and heatwaves in the emergency regime, cold front in the next days bring very uneven precipitation and heatwave will be lasting very long, minimally a week, in northern parts longer.
SSTs (Sea Surface Temperatures) near the La Plata region are anomalously high and AAO+ (positive phase of Antarctic Oscillation) is ongoing, which are additional factors for prolonged periods of heatwaves and drought in the region.
Moreover, widespread wildfires should appear again across the southern half of South America, mainly during the following week.
