Western Disturbances (ex-Mediterranean lows) brought in Iran, Pakistan, and Afghanistan in the last period anomalous precipitation – heavy rainfall in lowlands and lower situated basins and snowfall into mountainous basins and valleys.
Almost 100 cities in southern Iran (87) were heavily flooded with a result of 11 dead.
The situation was so critical, that it was a subject of intensive investigation of WMO (World Meteorological Organization).
Together 28 provinces were affected.
Rainfall totals around 300 mm in a very short time were reported.
