Extreme frosts hit the Middle East, too, with big problems with refugee camps /https://mkweather.com/300c-in-iraq-children-in-refugee-camps-are-crying-from-extreme-winter/; https://mkweather.com/extreme-frosts-hit-kurdistan-397c-in-turkey-and-274c-in-iran-gaziantep-with-05-meters-of-snow-3000-vehicles-stuck-in-a-blizzard/; https://mkweather.com/extreme-frosts-hit-the-middle-east-damascus-syria-80c-turaif-saudi-arabia-60c-kirkuk-iraq-47c-nekhel-egypt-45c/; https://mkweather.com/syria-lebanon-several-children-dead-in-refugee-camps-after-a-snowstorm-israel-with-severe-floods//.
Temperatures in southeastern Turkey dropped to -39,7°C, in Iraq to -30,0°C, in Iran to -27,4°C or in Lebanon to -27,0°C (links above) and parts of Turkey were hit by severe blizzards (e.g Gaziantep with a 40cm+ snow cover or Istanbul with 36 cm of snow) (links above).
Snow even appeared along beaches on the southern coast of Turkey in Antalya, Mugla, or Dalaman (link above) – the first time since 1993.
Meanwhile in Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq, extreme winter, caused a big humanitarian crisis in refugee camps, with unbearable conditions for many children (several children have died) /https://mkweather.com/300c-in-iraq-children-in-refugee-camps-are-crying-from-extreme-winter//.
After unfavorable news from the region, the next disturbing viral content appeared on social sites (Twitter) – videos of frozen animals across the country.
From wild animals, such as foxes, to domesticated animals – in regions with persisting frosts below -20°C, -30°C, or up to -40°C, or drastic cooldowns, these animals hadn´t a chance to survive.
One of the sources is telling about animals frozen in place, standing, sometimes while walking, due to a sudden rapid drop in temperature.
It´s possible, that very to extremely cold conditions in the regions will be persisting until early March 2022 (early spring forecasts for the wider European region will be updated soon).
