After an unprecedented December 2021, which was abnormally warm, in southern parts of the USA even hot, with a national temperature anomaly almost +5°F /https://mkweather.com/december-in-the-usa-was-exceptionally-warm-5f-above-average//, when deadly tornado event in Kentucky appeared /https://mkweather.com/breaking-ef4-tornado-in-kentucky-killed-50-people-it-was-historic-winter-supercell//, January 2022 surprised with very cold weather, blizzards, and severe frosts. Relatively cold weather is continuing in February 2022 and cold forecasts promise Arctic blasts until the half of March 2022 /https://mkweather.com/rcmwf-6-week-forecast-for-the-usa-until-4-april-2022-winter-until-the-half-of-march-then-very-warm-spring//.
January 2022 ended according to NOAA such as the coldest January in the USA since the very cold January 2014.
All period between 31. December – 10. February brought the coldest 6-week period of middle-winter in 8 years.
Extremely strong negative anomalies were observed mainly in the Great Lakes region (and therefore parts of the Midwest and Northeast), locally below -10°F.
All eastern half of the country was cold, weak warm anomalies appeared only in the Rocky Mountains and Southwest (California the 2nd driest January on record: https://mkweather.com/california-hit-extreme-heatwaves-and-wildfires-almost-a-week-above-90f-32c-death-valley-already-94f-35c-the-state-after-the-2nd-driest-january-on-record-wildfires-are/.

It appears, that colder February should mean above-average, but not so warm Winter 2021/2022 such it appeared in December 2021, yet.
In Spring and Summer 2022, the stormy pattern above the eastern half of the USA will be preserved, while the western USA should suffer the next severe drought, heatwaves, and wildfires.
In Canada, it should be a flip from very cold winter to hot summer.
