Eastern USA experience with next and next Arctic outbreaks and blizzards.
After 2 rounds of blizzards /https://mkweather.com/snowing-in-panhandle-florida/; https://mkweather.com/falcon-lake-texas-from-99f-372c-to-only-23f-50c-in-2-days/; https://mkweather.com/buffalo-45-cm-17-6-inches-boston-28-cm-11-inches-new-york-21-cm-8-4-inches-northeast-after-the-first-big-blizzard-of-the-season/; https://mkweather.com/nashville-tennessee-with-63-inches-16-cm-of-snow-the-highest-snowfall-since-2016-and-23rd-in-history// and subsequent Arctic blasts, the 3rd significant snowstorm, and cooldown of the month are coming.
Only in the first half of this week, in northern and northeastern parts of the USA and eastern half of Canada, windchill temperatures in border states and provinces recorded anomalously low values – in the northern USA up to -45°F / -43°C.
Very cold air has gradually shifted above the Atlantic coast and after dry air, the next blizzard is coming.
An expansive blizzard is forecast to come from Sunday to Monday, 16.-17. January 2022 and it should hit a wide region from Atlanta in the south to Montreal and farther Newfoundland, Canada, in the north.
In Atlanta it should be the first measurable snowfall in 4 years (since 2018), in mountainous regions should fall up to 18 inches / almost 0,5 meters of snow.
According to the 6-week ECMWF forecast, Arctic blasts in the southern and eastern USA will be possible until the end of January 2022, yet, then will come the next “Kentucky-like” situation with storms and tornadoes and later in February, early-spring weather in South and East is possible /https://mkweather.com/ecmwf-6-week-forecast-for-the-usa-canada-mexico//.
Winter in central and eastern USA is therefore in January 2022 peaking and already in a few days, we will be witnesses of the next possible problems on roads and highways, power outages, uprooted trees, or later life-threatening frosts with Canadian (Alaskan) and Arctic origin.
If you live in the region, we recommend you to watch current weather news, forecasts, and warnings.
Mkweather will update snowfall and temperature records from the eastern half of the USA, soon.
