24. January 2022 brought the highest temperature in Iguazu, Argentina, in all-time history, with the maximum temperature +40,6°C.
In Paraguay, 2 days later, on 26. January 2022, temperatures climbed up to +45,7°C.

Extreme heatwaves hit parts of southern Brazil, too.
After extreme heatwaves, a powerful cold front brought on 27. January 2022 to Buenos Aires very low minimum temperature, only +13,9°C.

While the southern half of South America is experiencing anomalously strong heatwaves during La Nina, the northern half suffers extreme floods.
