La Nina pattern is bringing into the western half of Canada and Alaska extremely cold Winter 2021/2022 and temperatures in the region again dropped below -50,0°C in the last days.
The coldest was on 5. January 2021 in Chicken, Alaska, -51,1°C, Watson Lake, Yukon, Canada, -50,5°C and Rabbit Kettle, Northwestern Territories, Canada, -50,5°C.
Before the end of the year 2021, measured extremely cold -51,1°C in NW Canada was the lowest measured temperature in Canada in December since 1998 /https://mkweather.com/canada-511c-the-first-50c-and-lower-temperature-in-december-since-1998//
Extreme winter is forecasted to hit N/NW USA and large parts of Canada until the end of the winter /https://mkweather.com/kentucky-like-tornadoes-for-the-usa-in-january-and-february-2022-cfs-sees-extreme-temperature-differences-across-the-continent-and-sharp-frontal-boundaries-for-midwest-southeast//, but in the last days, southern regions in the USA were hit powerfully, too /https://mkweather.com/snowing-in-panhandle-florida/; https://mkweather.com/falcon-lake-texas-from-99f-372c-to-only-23f-50c-in-2-days/; https://mkweather.com/the-strongest-snowstorm-in-5-years-hit-east-coast-5-dead-1-million-without-power-snow-cover-near-washington-d-c-14-6-inches-37-cm//, while northern parts of the USA reported the lowest temperatures in the USA in Winter 2021/2022, so far /https://mkweather.com/montana-41f-406c-international-falls-37f-383c-winter-pattern-in-the-northern-usa-until-the-end-of-winter-2021-22//.
It´s possible, that near persisting extremely cold conditions in the region, soon we will see below -55°C / -67°F.
Partially, strong Hawaii high and NE Pacific Warm Blob and NAO+ are contributing to this anomaly.
Meanwhile, Europe is preparing for the next possible peak of winter (however, after a strong New Year 2022 warm spell) /https://mkweather.com/siberian-winter-in-europe-with-a-peak-around-20-1-2022-the-next-peak-of-winter-2021-2022-scandinavia-45c-eastern-europe-30c-continental-europe-turkey-25c-balkan-france-20// and winter in the last period hit strongly in East Asia, too /https://mkweather.com/the-temperature-in-oymyakon-again-close-to-60c-parts-of-siberia-with-a-severe-blizzard/; https://mkweather.com/hulunbuir-china-469c-the-coldest-day-in-history//.
