
As we forecasted in several articles before, Italy hit on Wednesday the first day of the peak of abnormal heatwave (the second day will be Thursday, 24. June 2021, with similar, possibly higher temperatures).

Extremely hot weather has shifted already above Balkan (and south-central Europe), where +41,1°C in Gevgelija, North Macedonia, +40,2°C in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, +39,4°C in Larissa, Greece, +39,2°C in Gjirokastra, Albania, +38,9°C in Podgorica, Montenegro, and +37,7°C in Knin, Croatia, +37,5°C in Cuprija, Serbia, +37,5°C in Sandanski, Bulgaria, +36,5°C in Somotor, Slovakia or +36,3°C in Szeged, Hungary was already measured. In Balken however, the peak of heatwave is forecasted only on Thursday, 24. June, in Greece until Saturday, 26. Across Southern Europe immediately appeared many wildfires and severe drought dramatically worsened.
It´s expected, that heatwave will be extremely deadly /covid: After Covid, could the next big killer be heatwaves? – The Economic Times (indiatimes.com)/. Mainly older people, which don´t feel thirst should be very careful and follow a drinking regime. Too, long sun exposure should be for sensitive people very problematic.
In Italy, recorded temperature +46°C equaled the record from July 2003, although, all-time national record +48,5°C from 1999 hasn´t been broken.
After heatwaves, extremely strong storms, with 10 cm hails, 140 km/h winds and EF2 tornadoes are coming /Breaking! Trough Europe are shifting extreme storms! Already next week however, the next anomalous heatwave is forecasted, on GFS outputs currently with 2°C higher temperatures for Italy and 3°C higher temperatures for Greece (+45 vs. +46°C), what mean, that in some places should be 2-3°C hotter such as on outputs. All-time Greek record from 1977 (Athens) has value +48,0°C and during upcoming second peak of June 2021 heatwave, it should be broken. Temperature +43°C above SW Romanian border is only cca 1°C far from all-time national temperature record, +41°C for Croatia is 1,5°C below national record /a map with circles below/.
The second peak of heatwaves is forecasted by GFS main run from 23.6.2021 12Z around 2. July 2021, then cooldown in Europe is after long-lasting and exhausting heatwaves, forecasted. According to long-term forecasts however, extreme heatwaves in July 2021 should return very quickly, with even stronger and historic intensity.
