Before summarizing of extremely warm New Year 2022 in Europe, we will look at ESRL composites for December 2021 in Europe, the USA (North America), and the World.
At all, December 2021 was the coldest in Finland, Estonia, Latvia, and the St. Petersburg region, Russia.
The warmest regions in December 2021 were Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova, southern Ukraine, and southeastern England.
The wettest regions were Spain, France, Switzerland, Italy, Balkan, Greece, western Ukraine, and Cyprus (and NE African coast, Lebanon, Israel, and Syrian coast, too).
The driest regions appeared above Iceland, Faroe Islands, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Poland, Slovakia, eastern Turkey, Balearic Islands, or Malta.
The deepest air pressure was detected above Balkan, East-Central Europe, Eastern Europe, and Baltic countries.
Higher geopotential (and air pressure) than average was observed in northern Scandinavia, Iceland, Svalbard (and all Arctic), Kola Peninsula, Russia, and SW Iberia.
Such we should notice on outputs below, the first and third December decade brought into Europe relatively strong coldwaves, while the second December decade was warmer.
During both, the 1st and 3rd December decades, Mediterranean lows activity was above average.
In the 2nd December decade, more NAO+ pattern was linked with pressure high near British Islands.
